Protecting & Straightening Hair, Any advice?

I have fine/thin medium length hair. It is straight for the most part but has a bit of a wave to it.

I am looking for advice and tips on how to get straight hair without damaging it severely. (including tips on how to straighten hair with a straightener. I'm a guy so I don't really know how to straighten hair.)

Any suggestions on haircare products that will keep my hair healthy and prevent splitting?

I am willing spend about 200dollars on haircare products/a good straightener.

From my experience straighting my own hair I think Bed Head's "Control Freak Extra Extra Straight" hair straightener gel works well.

Or if you want a metal plated straightener I find Remington's "Wet 2 Straight" to work best with most types of hair. You can control the heat settings and if you're in a hurry straighten while your hair is till wet.

Of course no matter what products you use its always good to deep condition daily as to keep from frying your hair.

Hope it helps =]

Go to your hairdressers, they should have heat protection sprays/mousses/creams.

A good straightener would be the new Bedhead straightener. Try a deep conditioning mask once a week. Shampoo with Tres Seeme anti breakage. And always use a heat protection spray right before you straighten. And dont brush your hair while its wet.
