Foils will allow for more chunky highlights and when it's pulled thru the cap it looks more "sun kissed" and scattered. No difference in the product just the application and outcome. The last cap highlight I had done hurt like crazy so I went foil last time and love it!

nothing really, if ur hair is short then they use a cap, but if hair is shoulder length then they use foil, you always get the same result of colour!!

i find the cap is easier for short hair. not so easy on medium hair and defidently not for short hair. Personally I think the foil is the way to go. This way you can choose either thin highlights, or real chunky ones...this you can't do so much with a cap. Also, with foils you know exactly where the highlights will fallwhere as with a cap it is more of a andom highlighting.

Cap highlights are an older, now less common method, that's mostly used now for very short hair or for speed. Foiled highlights would be more appropriate for hair jaw length or longer.

For your hair, since it's dark, you'll probably want to ask for two colors- a carmel or honey tone and a "midtone" which will help the lighter color in with your natural.

Hardly anyone uses a cap anymore. However a cap will only give you natural evenly spaced highlights. With foils you can be very versatile, thick, thin, a lot, a little, one color or several colors. Hope that helps!
